Centers Calculator
Generate repeated centre marks from a starting datum and entered spacing or member width. Check whether the first mark is at the centre or the lead edge.
How the estimate works
Section length = total length ÷ number of divisions. Centre marks sit halfway into each section.
Metric worked example
Inputs: 1,600 mm run divided into 4 equal sections
Working: Section = 1,600 ÷ 4 = 400 mm; centre marks = 200, 600, 1,000, 1,400 mm
Result: Four centre marks, 400 mm apart
US customary worked example
Inputs: 5 ft 3 in run divided into 4 equal sections
Working: 63 ÷ 4 = 15.75 in per section; centres = 7.875, 23.625, 39.375, 55.125 in
Result: Four centre marks, 15.75 in apart
Units and regional checks
Use the drawing's datum and spacing convention. Keep the tape reference consistent across the run.
